After a year of research and testing, Dave Wolf of Owens Corning has identified a number of cracks and joints deemed the most cost beneficial to air seal in new homes.  The top plate to drywall of an attic, rim joists, recessed lights, and the garage wall are all areas that provide “the most bang for air-sealing buck” according to Wolf.  Air sealing is becoming more and more important as some local Tennessee building codes are moving toward the 2012 International Energy Conservation Code (IECC).
